Generating and using real evidence

Under construction - but here are some initial ideas to think about.  Please add your suggestions in the comment box below.

This is a flexible approach proposal.
Contact Heather Bell to work out your best way to build a programme around this thinking.

A panel at the Inspired Impact Symposium this year was asked the question "Inquiry Learning: Does it make a difference?"  My answer?  How do you know unless you have inquired into the impact of it.  This proposed PLD opportunity takes that concept and encourages you to implement it in your school.

Purpose:
Support schools to develop their own ways of gathering and recording a wide range of real evidence (not just test scores) of learning and using this to support their teaching and learning programmes.

Target Groups:

  • Principals and middle school leaders
Support Could Include:
  • Learning about different ways of generating useful evidence of learning - NOT testing retention!
  • Teaching as Inquiry and Registered Teacher Criteria.  How are you gathering and recording evidence for your appraisal?
  • Teaching as Inquiry and National Standards.  How do you really know you are making an impact on learning?
  • Moderation of literacy. Are you using the data to inform YOUR practice?

Possible Formats:
  • Staff meetings
  • Twilight or Breakfast sessions (2 - 3 hrs) for clusters of interested schools
  • Whole day workshops for clusters of interested schools
  • Online support

Programme Investment:
By negotiation depending on the format

  • Whole day workshop
  • Staff meetings
  • Twilight or Breakfast sessions
  • Online support - $135hr (+ GST)
